Artist Leaves Dress In The Dead Sea For 2 Months And It Turns Into Glittering Salt Crystal Masterpiece
Sigalit Landau, an Israeli artist, has held a deep affection for the Dead Sea since her childhood days in Jerusalem. Growing up on a hill, she had a view of the sea’s northern shores from her home. The sea left such a profound mark on her that she now weaves its essence into her creative expressions. Her artistic creations are believed to carry both symbolic and mystical meanings.
Landau’s latest endeavor involved a captivating photo project where she took a black gown and immersed it in a lake. The project, titled “Salt Bride,” spanned eight different segments. Over the course of three months, Landau regularly captured images of the garment while it was submerged. These photos meticulously documented the dress’s transformation as it underwent changes over the three-month period. The high salt concentration in the water gradually turned the deep-colored fabric of the gown into a pristine white textile. However, the shift is more than just a physical alteration; it carries a truly poetic essence as a work of art. Through this series of photographs, the dress takes on an aura of enchantment and mystique, adding a touch of magic to the outfit’s journey.
